The Destination background

Rio de Janeiro is the picture postcard city on the Atlantic coast with great beaches, the fabulous Sugar Loaf Mountain and Christ the Redeemer statue, now a new 7th wonder of the world.

Iguazu Falls, the most voluminous waterfalls on the planet are 4 times the size of the Niagara Falls and visits to both the Brazilian and Argentinean sides are necessary to fully appreciate this most incredible site.

Manaus, the capital of the Amazon region in Brazil is a humid and exciting starting point for your excursion into the Amazon jungle The Amazon is the largest rainforest in the world and home to so many species of flora and fauna that many have yet to be named by science.

Full Itinerary

  • Day 1. Rio De Janeiro

    Arrival, reception and transfer to your hotel. Accommodation. Free day.

  • Day 2. Rio De Janeiro (B)

    After breakfast, a half day visit of the "marvelous city" including a sightseeing tour to Sugar Loaf Mountain. A two-stage cable car takes you to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain where you will enjoy a splendid view of Rio, Copacabana Beach, and Guanabara Bay. Return to your hotel. *Option of a spectacular dinner and show in Rio.

  • Day 3. Rio De Janeiro (B)

    After breakfast, a half day visit to Corcovado, the mountain home to the world famous, Christo de Redentor statue for a magnificent 360° panoramic view of Rio. After, a trip to the Tijuca forest, a luxuriant tropical forest only minutes away from this huge metropolis. The Tijuca Forest is considered the largest urban forest in the world. It has 330 square kms of preserved Mata Atlântica (Tropical Forest), the highest mountaintops of Rio, waterfalls and hidden caves. A rich flora, with a great biodiversity and an incomparable natural beauty. The Tijuca Forest is considered to hold the largest concentration of different species of bromeliads in Brazil, even more than the Amazon Jungle. Return to your hotel.

  • Day 4. Rio De Janeiro – Iguazu (B)

    After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight to Iguazu. Reception and transfer to your hotel.

    Half day excursion to the fabulous UNESCO World Heritage Iguazu falls, the most voluminous falls in the world and more than three times the width of the Niagara Falls. The falls lie on the three borders of Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. A visit to the Itaipu dam, one of the largest hydro electric dams in the world, before returning to your hotel.

  • Day 5. Iguazu Argentinean side (B)

    After breakfast, a full day excursion to the Argentinean side of the falls. You will cross the border for this trip to get a closer appreciation of these magnificent waterfalls and its location in the lush subtropical rainforest. The trip includes an exhilarating boat ride up to the waterfalls themselves. Return to your hotel.

  • Day 6. Iguazu (B)

    Free day to wander around the majestic falls on your own.

  • Day 7. Iguazu – Manaus - Amazon (B & D)

    After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight to Sao Paulo and connecting flight to Manaus. Arrival at 13h30, reception and transfer to the Amazon Lodge. En route, a short visit to the Meeting of the Waters by boat. This natural phenomenon caused by the joining of the Negro River's darker water with the muddy water of the Solimoes River which for over six kilometers, the rivers run side by side, without mixing. This happens due to the difference between their temperature, density and also, the speed of their currents: Negro River runs at about 2 km/h at a temperature of 22 C, while Solimões River runs at 4 to 6 km/h with a temperature of 28 C. Transfer to the Amazon Ecopark Jungle Lodge. Check-in/ welcome drink after which guests will be shown to the room. Dinner and evening tour by canoe for Alligator Spotting .Overnight at the lodge.

  • Day 8. Amazon (B, L & D)

    After breakfast a nature-hike through the jungle looking for flora and fauna. Return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, visit to the home of local Amazonian residents” (“natives”) known as caboclos with an opportunity for fishing for piranhas. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge.

  • Day 9. Amazon – Manaus (B)

    After breakfast and visit to the Monkey Jungle to see a variety of monkey species before check-out at 11h30 and transfer to Manaus airport for your return flight home.

  • 6 night's accommodation in twin/double rooms at recommended hotels with private bathroom and breakfast and 2 night’s accommodation in a comfortable jungle lodge with air conditioning, electric showers and screened windows.
  • All transfers, tours and excursions as per itinerary in private service (excluding the jungle trip) with English speaking guides.
  • All meals as per itinerary denoted by B, L and D.
